In-Person School Visits
In-Person School Visits
An author visit is a great way to get kids excited about writing. As a nonfiction writer, I create each presentation around a particular book or topic, and then expand from that topic to a discussion of the research and writing process. My goal is to convince students that researching a topic is like searching for hidden treasure. What amazing facts will they uncover? How will they make those facts come alive for others when they write their reports or prepare their presentations? My talks are illustrated with colorful photos and fascinating details. You choose which topic best suits your students needs and interests.
** Frequently Asked Questions **
•How long are the presentations? Presentations last approximately 45 minutes, with time for questions at the end. I can do up to four presentations per day (more and I lose my voice!).
• What equipment is required? If I drive, I bring my own equipment. If not, I’ll need a computer and projector that supports the PowerPoint or Keynote programs.
• Can you supply references? Yes!
• What are your rates? Let’s talk! I normally charge $1000 per day (plus travel expenses) for up to four presentations. If schools join together that will reduce travel costs. You also have the option of selling books which are available at discounts through the publisher. (The charge for schools within a day’s drive of my home in western Michigan is $600 per day). Discounts are available to schools near Fargo, North Dakota, or Nashville, Tennessee where I have friends and family.
